Indian Rag

Indian Cotton Paper is 100% recycled and uses refined cotton from rags, clothing and textiles instead of pulp from the cotton seed as other papers. This provides longer fibers in the paper providing exceptional strength and durability. The designs are hand-made. Some are screen-printed where each color in the pattern is applied individually and allowed to dry. Others are marbled and each unique sheet is created by manipulating metallic oil paints as they float on top of a water tray, then laying the blank paper on top of the floating design and quickly lifting the sheet. Much of the paper is hand made by local communities or in small enterprises.

I have been the recipient of several of Sandy’s beautiful books. The papers Sandy uses to cover her books are exquisite, both unique and beautiful in texture and color. That combined with her excellent craftsmanship and the practical use of her products make these excellent gifts for others as well as for yourself. DL, Crozet, Va.
